1/7 – my latest dotty plate

I’ve been painting a lot of dotty plates and bowls lately! But that’s okay, they are fun to paint. This one was commissioned by The Over-Thinker, along with a second smaller plate in the same colors that Annalie will be helping with! That should be fun.
Speaking of Annalie, guess who’s participating in 7 Days this time around?

Annalie is already an old hand when it comes to taking self-portraits, so she thought doing 7 Days with me sounded like fun. She thought this black cat in one of her books looked like our cat Lily and wanted to take her picture with it. Annalie set the book up on one side of the table as you see, then walked around to the other side of the table and asked me to set the camera up for her so she could use the timer. I showed her where the timer button is on my Nikon D40 and how to check the screen to make sure you can see the clock symbol. She positioned the camera, then clicked the button and ran around the table to get in the shot. All of that was done with minimal input from me.

Another beautiful dotty plate—I think I’ll need to order one for my house warming gift to myself when the time comes for that sort of thing!

Bethany, your dotty plate should be in the next fall or spring collection of Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn. Better yet, sell it to William-Sonoma and then they’ll have it exclusively.
