Annalie discovers the secret of physical comedy
January 23rd, 2009
As we were getting ready to say bedtime prayers tonight, Annalie somehow managed to step onto a punch balloon in her room. Of course she slipped and landed on her butt. As she struggled to get back up, whimpering a bit, Troy laughed and said, “Wow, that was pretty spectacular!”
Annalie replied indignantly, “Daddy, I don’t call that spectacular. I call that PAIN!”
Troy just laughed harder. I told Annalie, “Tell Daddy, ‘You shouldn’t laugh at my pain, you should be sympathetic!”
Troy, still laughing said, “I’m sorry Annalie, I shouldn’t be laughing at your pain.”
Annalie rubbed her bottom and chuckled. “It’s okay, I’m laughing at my pain too!”

What IS it with dad’s and laughing when their kids fall down?! Superman was cracking up constantly at K when she was learning to walk, and now when she occasionally trips and eats it he’ll still laugh as he’s also trying to comfort her. Sheesh. At least Annalie’s a good sport and goes along with it. =)
Isn’t that why people have kids, to laught about them? ;) It cracks me up when I stick a spoonful of food into Noah’s mouth and he shivers and blinks his eyes and is hilariously disgusted.
So many times they fall and don’t seem hurt at all. You get used to laughing it off and then can’t stop. I love that goofy picture. She’s such a ham!
too funny … and what a great picture of her! loooove the expression :)
I am trying to not baby her so much, like I used to do. Most of the time, when she has tripped lately, she is not hurt and usually brushes it right off. Her fall last night really was especially spectacular though. I don’t know quite how it happened, but as she was stepping backwards, her foot caught on a balloon and she somehow fell back, twisted around, and spun around before landing somewhat softly. She wanted to cry, but soon realized that it didn’t really hurt and was pretty funny.
She’s such a ham. I love it.
I’m glad she wasn’t hurt and could laugh at herself. :-)
Being able to laugh at yourself is a good thing. It makes things a little easier when you’re having a bad day.
I agree with CC being able to laugh at ourselves when we fall down or do something silly is invaluable. Annalie sounds like a girl with a sense of humour. Much better to laugh than to pout x
I love it when we can laugh at the kids falling, it means they aren’t hurt and they can realize that it is kinda funny. Sometimes J gets into a laughing crying fit, a little mad that I am laughing, but starts laughing too because he realizes that it is just plain funny.
