Annalie makes an imaginary phone call
January 17th, 2008
“I’m just gonna make a quick call before I go to bed.”
Picks up an old cell phone that we let her play with, dials, and puts it to her ear.
“Hello? Hi, how ya goin’? Good…oh, we’re just going to bed. What are you doing?…You’re staying up late, Miss Angela? You’re staying up late, Brayden? You’re staying up late, Miss Deborah?”
Switches the phone to her other ear.
“Uh-huh, yeah…hahaha! That’s pretty funny. It’s just a joke…yeah.”
Turns around and notices the miniature teddy bear hanging on her dresser.
“Hm? Oh, it’s just my litle stuffed bear…you wanna talk to him? Well, he’s just a stuffed animal, but okay.”
Puts phone to bear’s ear, makes whispery noises.
“Yeah, that was my bear…uh-huh, okay…How’s it doin’, BabyBug? Now I’m gonna talk to your mommy. Okay, yeahyeahyeah…”
Takes the phone away from her ear and looks at it, then puts it back to her ear.
“Hello? Hello? I lost her. I’m gonna call her back.”
Dials phone, puts it to her ear, and waits a few seconds.
“Hello, Miss Brenda? It’s Annalie. How ya goin’?…Uh-huh, yeah, Miss Brenda…oh, yeah…haha! Yeah, it’s doing OK…haha…yeah, yeah…hang on.”
Annalie picks up San Diego Panda [a small stuffed Panda Troy bought her while on a business trip that has "San Diego" embroidered across his tummy], lies down on floor, and puts the phone back to her ear.
“Oh yeah…yeah…here’s my baby panda! ”
She puts the phone to the panda’s ear and continues in a high-pitched voice.
“Goo goo ga ga, goo ga goo! Hello Miss Brenda, I’m the little panda! Goo goo ga!”
Goes back to her normal voice.
“Okay…oh, yeah? Haha! That’s pretty funny, Miss Brenda. Hahaha!”
I tell her it’s time to put the phone down and go to bed, and she waves at me in an “okay” gesture and goes on.
“I can still talk to you, I have one more minute left. It takes a little while—”
She drops the phone and picks it back up.
“Hello, Miss Brenda? Hello? Oh. Hahaha! I’m gonna put you on speakerphone.”
She presses a button on the phone, then speaks loudly.
“Hi Miss Brenda! I’m having a good time, are you? Okay. Bye, Miss Brenda! It’s time to go. I’m gonna look at my phone. [she briefly looks at the phone, the puts it back up to her ear] I’ts 12:15, Miss Brenda. I better let you go. When I’m done with sleeping I can call you in the morning, okay, Miss Brenda? Okay. Bye!”

So. CUTE!
Sooo funny, Annalie is awesome!
OH my goodness! I am in LOVE! I think I shall have to go have an imaginary phone conversation with her to return the favor.
“Hello? Miss Annalie? YOU ARE ADORABLE!!!!! Can I adopt you? Can you and your mom move in with me?”
“Oh. Yeah, your Dad would probably miss you. I didn’t think about that.”
“Well, it sure was fun talking to you! Talk to you again soon!”
Annalie has far better imaginary conversations than my real ones.
As always, she’s just cute as a button. SAJ is right. Is she available for adoption?
One part of my job is answering the phone, which is something I’m not particularly a fan of (all those bloomin’ people interrupting my day) – so now I shall be hiring Annalie to do it for me. That seems the best solution.
I loved reading this! So so sweet! My little sister used to go make phone calls to her imaginary friends when we went to restaurants (but lots of time she couldn’t hear them speaking because their dogs were barking in the background). I love things like this.
That’s so Annalie! That imagination just never stops. Gee…I wonder who she takes after on the phone thing???
How precious! I love pulling up your blog every morning just to see what Annalie has been up to. She is adorable and it helps give me insight to what I have to look forward to as Lil Man gets older and continues to develop his own personality!
I love this conversation! SAJ & Annalie had a great talk :-) I am laughing at some of the things Annalie said to her! (especially, “I’m gonna put you on speakerphone” How cute is that? I miss you Annalie!!
xxoo & love from Gramaw
Awesome.
This conversation was the best one I overheard (over-read?) all day. Your girl is way too smart.
That is the best way to postpone bed-time.
I mean you can’t NOT take a phone call from someone clear across the country.
This made me laugh so hard! So cute!!!
So awesome. I bet this reveals a heck of a lot about how her momma talks on the phone too… hee hee.
That kid is excellent.
Hahaha, that’s great!
For some reason the lines “Oh, that’s just my baby panda. You wanna talk to him? Well, okay, but he’s just a stuffed animal…” just cracked me up.
She’s sharp as a tack and obviously *extremely* observant.
*that* is fabulous! bet she has a few good role models?! fynn is always talking on the phone, but hasn’t gotten past hi/bye yet.
