Annalieisms plus unrelated photos
May 17th, 2008
Annalie was digging through her pajama drawer one evening when she turned and said, “Hey, Daddy?”
Troy replied, “Hay is for horses!”
Annalie looked blankly at him for a second, then said, “Daddy, you’re right! Hay IS for horses!!!”
Annalie was sitting on the back of the couch, playing with my ponytail, when she said, “Take a deep breath, because I’m gonna have to pull on this a little, and it might hurt. But take a deep breath, and be brave.”
“Why do you have to pull on my ponytail?” I asked.
“Because I’m the hair and shirt and brain doctor!”
Annalie asked me out of the blue one day, “If I was a cat, where would I sleep?”
“Oh, probably on one of our beds,” I said.
Annalie laughed uproariously. “On one of your beds! That’s funny.”
“Why is that funny?” I wondered.
Annalie replied in an isn’t-it-obvious tone of voice, “Because if I was a cat, I’d sleep on the ceiling fan!”
“Mama, wanna hear a joke? Why did the flower go to sleep in the middle of the day? Because it’s a crazy daisy! Hahahahaha!…Hey, that rhymed!”

Oh to be a child again….where everything is so simple and so obvious!
I seriously love these. Annalie cracks me up!
Thanks so much for your support. You are awesome!
Annalie cracks me up! Your daughter is hilarious, to the point of laughter with tears sometimes. She is also a musical genius. My Bethany loves watching the “Everyday I’m growing bigger” movie and the other day when we were in the car and she was having a ‘Tude, I started singing – and that’s the song that came out! Can you believe I actually remembered all the words?! I dare say we’ve seen that movie one, too many times.
Crazy daisy! Love it! Those gummy worms look yummy. Wanna share one Annalie?
She’s so darn delightful :)
hehe that part about the ceiling fan made me laugh right out loud – so funny!
The “sleep on the ceiling fan” one just KILLED me!! SO funny and oh so very cute!
My dad always told me “Hay is for horses, grass is free, save your money and give it to me!”
Your daughter is adorable…kids really do say the darnest things!
On viewing the first picture of white pants, my heart started pounding a little. At picture #2, I was sitting a little more forward in my chair and, by pic #3, I was nearly hyperventilating – so ready, was I, to leap for the stain spray and towels! I was down off the ledge by picture #5, though, remembering that you have a girl who might not be aware there actually is a way to become sticky and mud-covered from head to foot while enjoying a non-sticky snack on a sparklingly clean deck. Oh, the joys of having boys! Part of our college savings for them is invested in shares of Shout! spray…
P.S. Does Annalie know that if she licks the gummy bear/worm/bug, it will stick to her face? The record here is 23 gummy bears on one face, achieved by Lars, who had them arranged by color on different face parts. Yes, he is a little bit OCD.
Are those gummi worms?! I love her creativity!
So sweet. You are so great to keep track of all her Annalieisms. J said something very funny today and already I can’t remember, I wish I had written it down.
Hair, shirt and brain doctor… I like it.
She never ceases to crack me up, what a card!
She tells jokes just like my little girl!! :-D
She is wise…that one.
I found your blog through Secret Agent Josephine’s blog. I JUST told my middle daughter “Hay is for Horses” the other day…I remembered it from my dad when I was little. Too funny! She says it all the time now…
Nicole: I’m going to have to try the “Hay is for horses, grass is green, save all your money and give it to me”…my girls will love that.
