Annalie’s birthday song for Gramaw Debbie
November 5th, 2009
Ooops, I meant to post this earlier today when I uploaded it to Flickr. My mom’s birthday was yesterday, November 4th. When I was five years old, in 1980, my mom’s birthday happened to be on Election Day. It was a presidential election year, so of course the elections were a big deal and much-talked-about on the news. The next time it was an election year, I was really confused about why the elections weren’t held on November 4th, because I was certain my mom’s birthday was Election Day. Eventually I figured the whole Tuesday-after-the-first-Monday-in-November thing out, of course, but I still chuckle about that misunderstanding every year on my mom’s birthday and every Election Day.
We hope you had a great day, Mom! No confusion or misunderstanding about that.

Annalie has the cutest voice. The video for her Gramaw is adorable. I’m sure she loved it!
Cute!
She’s so grown-up! (Annalie…and your mom, too.)
That’s so funny! My birthday actually falls on November 4th, too (happy birthday to your mother!) and I used to always wonder about that when I was little. I have friends who have birthdays on the 3rd and the 5th, and in the years when Election Day landed on their birthdays, I would get so confused/jealous.
Annalie is such a sweetheart. I miss that kid.
This is just the best song ever, what a lovely thing to do for a birthday.
So cute! My daughter used to pronounce her Rs the same way when she was that age. One time our puppy, Rusty, had absconded with one of her little action-figures. I could hear her yelling, “Wusty! Give me the momma!” We still laugh about it 20 years later.
Happy birthday, Gramaw Debbie! Great song, Annalie!
Isabelle came running up and said, “I love Annalie!” And earlier today she said, “I want to meet Annalie because I love everyone.” So, we’ve been talking about maybe, just maybe, trying to make the drive down your way in December. What do you think?
