  2. bethany actually Says:

    1. I have mixed feelings. I do watch a few shows regularly, but sometimes I think it would be nice to get rid of cable and only use the TV for movies. I don’t think TV is intrinsically bad, but it can become a bad habit. There are plenty of horrible shows, but there are also some really good ones. Like I said, mixed feelings.

    2. I don’t remember exactly when, but within the last couple of days, while talking with Troy. We share very similar senses of humor and when we get going we’re pretty silly. :-)

    3. Butter, because margarine tastes fake to me. Mainly I use it in baking. I rarely butter my bread.

    4. I ate spicy Thai chicken noodle salad from Trader Joe’s, half a blueberry scone, and a Hansen’s natural root beer.

    5. Lemon

    6. I think I’d either wait a few months and then buy plane tickets to visit my friends in Maryland, or hire a housekeeper for however long the money lasted.

    7. Ack, too many possibilities! I’m gonna go with…Harry Connick, Jr., just to see how it feels to be able to play the piano so effortlessly.

  3. Diana Says:

    1. What do you think of Europe?

    2. When did you last went to a gym?

    3. Trousers or skirts and why?

    4. What did you think when finishing high school?

    5. What’s your favorite drink?

    6. How would you prepare the best sandwich ever?

    7. Who would you most like to slap?

  4. bethany actually Says:

    1. I’ve been to Great Britain and Iceland and enjoyed both immensely. I’d love to travel in France and Italy and Spain and Germany, and anywhere really. Other than that, I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

    2. Uh, when I was in high school in my 11th-grade P.E. class, probably? I’ve never been a member of a gym. When I want to exercise I either walk or run.

    3. I like both, but I usually wear trousers just for comfort and so I don’t have to worry about flashing everyone when I want to sit on the ground.

    4. “Thank God that’s over.” I was always a good student but never really liked school much. :-)

    5. It depends on the weather and what I’m eating. In general, I love really cold skim milk, Diet Coke, coffee with cream and sugar, and cold water. If you meant alcoholic drinks, I don’t really drink enough to have a favorite.

    6. Ooh, good one. To start, a toasted whole-wheat bagel for bread. Mix fresh chopped basil and garlic with cream cheese and spread a thin layer on each bagel half, then layer on sliced turkey breast from the deli, romaine lettuce, really thinly-sliced red onion, sliced cucumber, and muenster cheese.

    7. Sorry for a lame answer, but I am not the type of person who slaps others. I would be more likely to say something sharp (and possibly mean) if I were upset. Right now I don’t feel the need to speak sharply to anyone.

  5. One Scrappy Gal Says:

    1. What do you think of those nasal strips that supposedly help you stop snoring and breathe better?

    2. The last time I bought deodorant, a couple of weeks ago. It’s energizing citrus or something like that.

    3. Einstein, mainly because I know nothing about black hole thermodynamics.

    4. I went to school; took my driver’s test and passed it; made myself a birthday cake; drove myself to church for the Wednesday night Lenten supper and worship; drove my friend Kara to a nearby grocery store to buy candy just because I could; and when I came out from church found that Kara and some other friends had filled my car with balloons.

    5. At bedtime, apply toothpaste to soft-bristle toothbrush and brush teeth for 1-2 minutes.

    6. I would throw my support behind dollar coins.

  8. bethany actually Says:

    1. Glad Wrap is okay, but I’m a big fan of the EZ Slide cutter thingy on Reynolds Wrap.

    2. This morning. I sing all the time–with the radio, a snatch of something that was on TV, to Annalie. I love to sing.

    3. Twitter, I guess. I don’t have a facebook account. I’m not a huge twitter-er, though.

    4. Hmm…I made microwave popcorn last night. Otherwise, the last time I cooked was probably a few weeks ago before we left Maryland. I’m getting tired of baby carrots and PB&Js and restaurant cooking.

    5. Oh gracious, I only get to pick ONE?

    6. I love Arts & Crafts stuff, and color. I don’t know that money is the issue so much as not having a clue, though. :-)

    7. Reese Witherspoon.

  9. Michelle Says:

    1. What do you think of Saran Wrap?

    2. When did you last floss your teeth?

    3. Cheddar and sour cream or Barbeque chips and why?

    4. What did you say at the end of the last movie you watched?

    5. What’s your favorite Mexican food?

    6. How would you make money if you could have whatever job you wanted (whether it is a real job or not)?

    7. Who would you most like to be friends with?

  10. bethany actually Says:

    1. It’s okay, but I’m a bigger fan of Reynolds wrap because of the EZ Slider cutting thing. (Did you get that idea from Fairly Ordinary?)

    2. Ooh, probably three weeks ago? I tend to floss every day for a few weeks, then slack off a while.

    3. Barbecue chips. I’m not a huge fan of Cheddar and sour cream chips.

    4. The last movie I watched was Dan in Real Life, and at the end I probably said something like, “That was pretty good!” Sorry, boring. :-)

    5. Carne asada tacos with cilantro and guacamole

    6. If I could figure out a way to make money by reading books—just reading them, not writing reviews or anything—that would be lovely. Or I could edit, I actually like editing people’s writing.

    7. I’d like to be friends with a really great hairdresser so I would always have someone to cut my hair without having to go through bad haircuts.

  11. Dana Says:

    1. What do you think of having another baby?

    2. When did you last get into a fender bender?

    4. What did you do for your last birthday?

    5. What’s your favorite type of music?

    6. How would you like to have a visitor soon :) ?

    7. Who would you most like to submit to “What Not to Wear”? I think I remember you saying you’ve watched this show.?.

  12. bethany actually Says:

    1. I think we definitely will. Annalie needs someone to commiserate with about how weird her parents are. And Leo & Brett need another cousin!

    2. Once when I was backing out of our driveway in Tempe, a car zipped around the corner right into my blind spot and I backed into her. It wasn’t too serious, just a dent to her passenger door and a little scuff on the back bumper of our Saturn.

    3. I do like renting movies, because I can pause them when I need to, and crochet while I’m watching. But I think I love going to the theater more. I especially love going to a movie by myself. I don’t know why, I just do.

    4. I went to Paint & Pottery and painted a bowl and ate cookies leftover from the not-surprise party my friends threw for me the night before.

    5. Any kind I can sing along to. My favorite artists are Barenaked Ladies and Steven Curtis Chapman.

    6. We’d love it! You might want to wait till we get more boxes unpacked, though, or you might get roped into helping us. ;-)

    7. My friend Erin—not because I think she really needs the help, but because I bet she would love to spend a week with Clinton and Stacey and get free clothes.

  13. Kristin Says:

    1. What do you think of the struggle between plastic and paper?

    2. When did you last stay up past midnight doing something fun?

    3. Truth or dare and why?

    4. What did you leave a poly-fill bag within reach of Annilie?

    5. What’s your favorite candy?

    6. How would you handle another child?

    7. Who would you most like to exchange recipes with?

  14. bethany actually Says:

    1. I think plastic is winning.

    2. I’m a night owl. I stay up past midnight reading or watching movies and crocheting or IMing quite often.

    3. Truth. I don’t like dares.

    4. It was in a box I was unpacking, but Troy called me to another room to help him with something.

    5. I love cherry sours, and also Aero bars.

    6. Do you mean, do we want more kids? The answer to that is yes. (I read this question out loud to Troy, and he said, “Uh, gently?”)

    7. The ownwer of Elia’s Mediterranean Restaurant in Virginia Beach. I would LOVE to get my hands on his recipe for hummus. I asked once and he just smiled and walked away shaking his head.

  15. citystreams Says:

What a fun meme! Before I start, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your prayers and your sweet comment yesterday. I wash having a major pity-party and I feel so selfish knowing how many times you’ve given up Troy and been so brave about it. You’re an inspiration to me! Okay, enough sappy stuff… on to this meme … that I totally plan on stealing ;o)

    1. What do you think of fairy tales?

    2. When did you last go snow skiing?

    3. Heels or flats and why?

    4. What did you most often daydream about as a child?

    5. What’s your favorite Annalie-ism?

    6. How would you characterize yourself?

    7. Who would you most like to give a wedgie too?

  16. bethany actually Says:

    1. I love fairy tales.

    2. I’ve never been snow skiing, and have no plans to try.

    3. Flats. I like the look of heels, but they’re just too painful to wear if I’m going to be doing anything other than lounging around.

    4. The first thing that popped into my head was that I daydreamed about living closer to my best friend, who lived 400 miles away from the time we were 8 years old. But I spent more time reading books than daydreaming, I think.

    5. That’s a tough one. I think I’d have to say, “You know how I feel about the auto-flushing toilets!” if only because I think of it each time I find myself using one and laugh.

    6. Always ready to laugh.

    7. I’m really not a wedgie-giving kind of girl, I guess. I’m drawing a blank.

  17. Beth Says:

    1. What do you think of _tie dye t-shirts_?

    2. When did you last _attend a dance_?

    3. _Italian Food_ or __Mexican Food_ and why?

    4. What did you _do to tell Troy you were pregnant with Annalie_?

    5. What’s your favorite _pizza topping_?

    6. How would you _decorate a nursery for a baby boy_?

    7. Who would you most like to _have lunch with (outside of your family)_?

  18. bethany actually Says:

    1. I secretly love them.

    2. An actual dance, not just a wedding with dancing? I think that would have been the ship’s Christmas party of the previous ship Troy was on, in 2001 or 2002. And I am perfectly happy about that.

    3. I love both, but I think I could eat Italian food indefinitely and not get tired of it. I could eat spaghetti aglio e olio for every other meal and not get sick of it.

    4. I thought I had a urinary tract infection because I was feeling like I had to pee every five minutes, so I went to the doctor and after some tests found out I was pregnant. Even though we’d been trying it was quite a surprise, for various reasons. So when I got home, still slightly dazed from the news, I just went into the office where Troy was studying (he was in MBA school at the time) and told him straight out.

    5. Pineapple.

    6. I probably wouldn’t decorate a nursery at all. Annalie slept in our room till she was 17 months old, with us and in an Amby hammock, mainly because I was breastfeeding and was too lazy to go to another room in the middle of the night. Our next child will likely do the same. Plus I suck at coming up with decorating schemes. :-)

    7. Right now, I’d love to have lunch with my friend Erin because I miss her and have not seen her in almost a year.

  20. Amanda Says:

    1. What do you think of tatoos?

    2. When did you last paint your toenails?

    3. Ocean or Mountains and why?

    4. What do you dream for Annalie?

    5. What’s your favorite time of day?

    6. How would you surprise Troy (I know how you feel about surprises for yourself… :-)?

    7. Who would you most like to do a craft project with?

  21. bethany actually Says:

    1. I am intrigued by them. I’ve toyed with the idea of getting one but have never come up with anything I wanted to have on my skin permanently. OMSH got one for her 35th birthday, so maybe in two years that’s what I’ll be doing, who knows.

    2. My toenails are almost always painted. I last painted them with a bright coral shade about a week ago, and did Annalie’s the same color.

    3. Mountains, because they remind me of spending time at my grandparents’ house in Southern California.

    4. That she’ll know Christ died for her sins to give her new life; that she will always love to laugh; and that she will have people to love, who love her.

    5. Nighttime, when Annalie and Troy are both in bed and the house is quiet. I love being with both of them, but I need that period of time to myself each day to recharge.

    6. He’s hard to surprise, because he can read my mind and often knows what I am going to say or do before I do. Seriously.

    7. Anyone with a glue stick and a fun idea!

  22. Linda Says:

    1. What do you think of when you remember the day you found out you were pregnant with Annalie?

    2. When did you last do something insanely crazy just for fun?

    3. Excessive amounts of money or just enough to be happy and why?

    4. What did you have for dinner last night?

    5. What’s your favorite meal to cook?

    6. How would you describe the best day of you life and why?

    7. Who would you most like to resemble and why?

  23. bethany actually Says:

    1. The fact that I had no idea I was pregnant till I was 16 weeks along. (It’s a long story. Maybe I’ll blog about it someday!)

    2. I’m not really prone to do insanely crazy things. Probably the craziest thing I’ve ever done is…skipped school with my boyfriend when I was in 11th grade? Gotten my ears double-pierced when I was 23? I do silly things all the time (skipping down the street, driving five miles out of my way just to go across a bridge for fun, letting Annalie draw on my arms with washable markers) but crazy really isn’t my bag.

    3. Just enough to be happy. I am not very practical when it comes to money and giving me excessive amounts of money probably wouldn’t be a good idea. :-)

    4. I had popcorn and cherry sours and Diet Coke at the theater when we went to see WALL-E.

    5. In general, I love to cook soup and stir-fries, because they’re fairly easy and all in one dish. Probably my favorite thing to cook, though, is chicken fajitas, because it was the first recipe I really made my own and got good at after I was married and cooking for myself all the time. Or chili, I love making chili without a recipe.

    6. I have had far too many really excellent days to narrow it down to one best day. Generally, the excellent days involve one or more of the following: Troy, Annalie, family, good friends, travel, laughing a lot, good food, coffee, rainstorms, new experiences,
    comfortable old traditions.

    7. I would most like to resemble myself. I don’t want to be an imitation of anyone else; I want to be exactly the person God made me to be.

  24. Beth A. Says:

I love pineapple on pizza too! :)

  25. bethany actually Says:

    Questions from Lorie via email:

    1. What do you think of Barack Obama (sorry I just had to put that one in there)?

Honestly, I don’t really know that much about him. I have the bad habit of avoiding anything political during election years because I get annoyed very easily. I’m not thrilled with the Republican OR Democratic candidates this year, I’ll tell you that.

    2. When did you last dance in the rain?

I have no idea if I have ever done that at all. I’m not really a dancer.* I walk in the rain every chance I get, though. I LOVE rain.

    3. Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck and why?

Donald Duck, because my Great-Uncle Denny does a really good Donald Duck impression that used to crack me up as a kid. Also, I just like how irascible Donald is.

    4. What did you eat for breakfast?

Trader Joe’s Vanilla Frosted Shredded Wheat with milk and some baby carrots.

    5. What’s your favorite animal?

Surprisingly, I had to really think about this. I tried to think of whether there is an animal I always *have* to see at the zoo, or if I saw a TV show about a certain animal if I would pause on that channel…and I’m sort of drawing a blank! I like all different kinds of animals, but I guess I’d have to say cats are my favorite, since I own two of them. I like big cats too, especially lions.

    6. How would you describe yourself?

Follower of Christ, Troy’s wife, Annalie’s mom; bookworm, crocheter, cook, photographer; creative, happy, logical; introvert who loves people and is always ready to laugh.

    7. Who would you most like to meet AND why?

This answer might be cheating a bit, because technically I have met my Great-Grandma Maggie Baker but she died when I was very small. She raised two kids on her own in San Antonio during the Great Depression and WWII and ran a successful diner and she just sounds like an interesting person. I would love to have known her when she was in her prime.

*My friend Erin and I have talked about this. She loves to dance and doesn’t understand how anyone could NOT want to dance. But it’s just not my thing. Words are my thing, music is my thing.
