Annalie’s song-letter for Daddy

September 17th, 2008

Today as we were sitting at the table eating leftover chili for lunch, Annalie announced that she needed me to get my camera. “I want you to take a movie of me singing a song for Daddy to let him know I love him and miss him. Then you can put it on a DVD and mail it to him!” I suggested I could just upload it to the internet instead and then he could watch it tonight, instead of having to wait a week for a DVD to arrive in the mail. She decided that was acceptable.

P.S. In case you’re wondering, we did make it to the awesome waterpark yesterday! Photos are here.

the cutting board song

September 8th, 2008

The backstory: Troy is good at making up little songs, and funny new lyrics to old songs. For some reason, the cutting board song has become a family classic, and we both find ourselves humming or singing it when we’re taking out a cutting board. Even my friend Erin sings it.

Yesterday as Annalie and I walked to our car at the mall, I said, “Hey, we could make the cutting board song into the parking lot song!” As we walked along I sang, “Parkin’ lot, parkin’ lot, parkin’ parkin’ parkin’ parkin’ lot,” while Annalie laughed. Then as she climbed into her carseat she started singing the cutting board song. I whipped out the camera and asked if she’d sing it again for me so I could take a movie.

This one’s for you, Auntie Erin!

Annalie the alphabet diva

August 25th, 2008

A couple of weeks ago when our friends were visiting, Deborah and I took the kids to a local park with an amphitheater. While we were there, we suggested they put on a show for us. Annalie had a prima donna moment, she threw in some trills and spins and curtsies, and she even did an encore. Usually when she’s being hilarious and cute I don’t even have the camera out, or I have it on the wrong setting or something. Aren’t you glad the stars aligned this time and I got a movie of it?
