I just love that first shot of you Bethany - what a beauty! I do believe red is a good color for you dah'lin.

I'm assuming you made it home safe and sound...maybe that is a poor assumption, better check, eh?

Checking IM now. :)

Jaynette, sure!

In answer to the yarn question: I wander around the craft store's yarn aisle, looking for the color I want. When I find the color, I touch the yarn to see if I like the way it feels. I refuse to use uber-cheap scratchy yarn because it just doesn't feel good.

For things like blankets and scarves, mostly I use the softest acrylic or microspun yarn I can find.

I use cotton yarn when I'm making potholders or washcloths. I use 100% wool for felting. I love fancy hand-dyed and hand-spun yarns but I use them sparingly because they're so expensive.

I don't much like mohair or eyelash or fun-fur yarn. I guess they're okay for knitting but they're a pain to crochet with, although I have used some fancy yarns for snowballs and that has worked okay.

In other words, I pretty much choose based on color, how the yarn feels, and purpose, in approximately that order.

I know you like to email answers to direct questions, but could you post answer the yarn question here for all of us to read?

That blanket was very ambitious. The finishing would have done me in. I hate, HATE seaming.

I hope it works out that you get on your flights tomorrow. I am sure if it weren't for that you would be enjoying the feeling of a snow day.

Your blanket is gorgeous and I know it will be treasured for many years to come.

I'm sorry that you had to miss Troy :( I'm REALLY looking forward to the post where you say HE'S HOME!!!!!

I sometimes think it's funny how 12 inches of snow will shut down an American town - where it would take DOUBLE to shut down a snowy prairie town - like when an inch shut down Texas (or something like that) (am I making it up?) (I thought Noah told me something like that).

I hope you three have safe travels back to San Diego!

ps- what type of yarn is your favorite? I am planning to use most of my Christmas money on building a yarn stash but I am at a loss when picking yarn out. I pick out something that I think will look good and it doesn't.

Do you use all wool, a blend, or acrylic? What brand is your favorite? Do you order online?

Thanks for being my crochet guru :)

Safe travels for you and your mom and the sweet Annalie. I LOVE the blanket. It is a shame that you can't gift it in person. They will love it all the same.
