Halloween, schmalloween
November 2nd, 2009
That was a doozy of a weekend. I’ve been sitting here for two hours watching TV, trying unsuccessfully to convince myself to edit and upload photos and write a post about everything. By the time I get around to writing about it you’ll all have moved on to Thanksgiving and you’ll roll your eyes at me and tell me that Halloween was SO last month. I figure a photo and a quick summary will have to do till I feel like recounting all the crazy details. To sum up: two-thirds of the people who were planning to come visit for the weekend didn’t make it, Brenda got sick the night before Halloween, trick-or-treating at the mall is kind of insane, Bug got sick Halloween night and we took her to the ER (she’s completely and totally fine, full explanation coming in a future post), and Annalie woke up around midnight and every hour or so the rest of the night to puke. So my mom and I traded that extra hour of sleep for an extra hour of puke and doing multiple loads of laundry.
Aside from all those things, we carved pumpkins, we baked cookies and muffins, we painted pottery, we saw lots of cool costumes at the mall. All things considered, it was actually a good weekend…but I’m still glad it’s over. Now I’m just praying I don’t get whatever stomach bug everyone else had. At least Annalie was feeling much better by bedtime tonight.
How was YOUR Halloween?

Phew, nothing like as eventful as that! I spent the weekend on the computer and making lists. And now that the week has begun, I guess I should do something on that list!
Love your black cat and pumpkins picture. I have a black cat named Henry who doesn’t pose for pictures and would just glare at me as I placed him next to the pumpkins for a photo before sauntering off to do his own thing.
Glad Annalie is feeling better and hope you don’t get it!
We had a swell Halloween weekend but it poured on Saturday night. It stinks having to trick-or-treat with an umbrella.
We met with a caterer, had dinner and then I went to bed at 9. It was delightful and I woke up yesterday feeling fantastic.
Wow!! It sounds like we had the same Halloween!! (Minus the trip to the ER- glad it wasn’t serious) I think we have both had our share of the yuck!
Oh no! Sorry to hear about all the illness and lack of sleep. Hope everyone is back to good as new. I spent a good chunk of the day trying to get a virus off my computer. Blugh! We carrved pumpkins and spent a few hours visiting friends.
So sorry to hear you guys had a bunch of sickness to deal with. For your sake, I’m glad it’s over too!
We stayed at home and gave out candy, like we usually do. We love seeing all the kids in their costumes!
I’m not going to have a Halloween post up for a while either … unless a miracle happens!!
I hate hearing about all the sickness in the blogosphere. Hope you guys get well soon!
sorry we did not make it sound like we missed some fun and some stuff I’m glad we did.I still have the craft for the girls to do to.( make deco for next year ) amber and suki made a lot of old folks happy and S&H and I got a prime rib dinner out of it ( roast beast, spider eggs and snake eyes, smashed potatoes.dirt in a cup) but we missed being with you guys too.
I am so SORRY to hear that you guys have been so sick lately!! I hope this is the last of the icky sicky and you guys can stay healthy!
I spent Halloween with my boyfriends family as it was his mom’s birthday. Dinner, drinks and a gut-busting game of UNO! :)
Aww, yikes! I sure hope everyone is feeling better now!
Our halloween?
This year we had a beatles rock band party instead of going out. It was a blast!
And we have no sugar craziness in the house! Bonus!
Wow that is a crazy Halloween. We spent the day doing last minute decorations and picking up a costume for Apple (because we forgot hers) then it was trick or treat time and I stayed home and handed out the loot while the kids went out and replenished the stock.
Boo for sicknesses! My Halloween was spend on duty as a dinosaur in my res. hall with one of my RAs. I saw the original Night of the Living Dead, helped two RAs make armbands for their upcoming program, and got thoroughly ticked at the fact I responded to a noise complaint from a suite where a loud drunken argument over the negative impact Stephanie Meyers has brought on vampire literature was going on.
Oh that sounds AWFUL! I’m so sorry!
We went to eat dinner at our favorite pizza joint, Double Dave’s, and then went to see Astro Boy. By the time we got back home the trick-n-treaters were all home snug in their bed and we had an awesome time together as a family!
Hi Bethany,
I was wondering if I could used your Recipe for “Home-made Vanilla Extract” to post, here I’ve added a link to your blog, to the recipe and a picture on the collage… I thought it was an awesome idea :)
I pulled up my reader and started reading this post. I said, “HUH?!” so loud I startled Alan. I did not realize I haven’t been on in so long. I mean I did see that picture but I can’t believe I’m a week behind in reading.
