Rena - Yes, lightning bugs! I remember a few years back when I happened to be in Omaha visiting my parents at the same time that my cousin Bob and his wife Susy and their young kids came through town on their way from Southern CA to Minnesota to visit my cousin's dad. Bob spent most of his childhood in Minnesota before moving to the West Coast, but Susy is from Mexico and has lived either there or SoCal her whole life, and their kids are California natives. One evening we took Susy and the kids to the park and then to Zesto's for ice cream, and while we were sitting on the picnic tables behind Zesto's Susy and the kids had their first experience with lightning bugs! They were fascinated, and I was blown away by the idea that Susy had reached her mid-20s and had never seen a lightning bug. I had fun teaching the kids how to catch them. :-)

What a great day! And I love the way you have learned to appreciate every place you have lived. I wish we could all be California Girls, but at least I know we are in our hearts.

Has Annalie changed in face? She suddenly looks so grown-up to me! Her hands don't look at all toddler anymore, either. When that happened to my boys, I cried. I miss the dimples on their knuckles!

Ha ha ha! I read hummus as humans. Yum humans, oh so delicious!!

And I think it's awesome that you get to move and experience new places. I know it's something we would never do. Alan is very rooted.

But moving again in a year's time? I don't think we'll be out to visit before then. If I weren't pregnant we would have probably back in March and again I don't know when. But now...man, I'm bummed. :(

No, we're not moving just yet...but we will likely be moving in about a year's time. Life in the Navy, ya know? :-)
