heart garland and sister love
February 14th, 2011
Elliora, supervising the heart garland production. She takes her job very seriously.
Even when it bores her.
This is a very low-key Valentine’s Day for us. Well, it’s usually a low-key holiday in our house. We often send Valentines to friends and family, and we buy little gifts for each other, but no fancy dinners or bouquets of roses. We just enjoy each other’s company.
We might do a little crafting, if we’re in the mood. We had a bunch of extra paper hearts leftover from making Valentine cards. Annalie had the idea to punch holes in them and make a garland. I helped with the hole-punching; she strung them all on the yarn herself.
It adds a nice festive touch to our dining room and living room, don’t you think? And they’re sort of neutral colors so if we are lazy about taking it down, which we usually are, we won’t feel like we’re stuck on Valentine’s Day in mid-March. (Did I mention we still have Christmas lights up in our yard too?)
Annalie chose every article of clothing in her Valentine outfit with care, and picked Elliora’s outfit too. She’s very into theme dressing. (Come to think of it, I remember when I was about Annalie’s age, being very proud of my red-white-and-blue 4th of July ensemble.) We took advantage of the gorgeous weather and spent some time outside. That was lovely. I’m getting tired of winter.
Happy Valentine’s Day! We hope you know you’re loved.

Love Annalie’s choker!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Glad you got out to enjoy the nice weather (and didn’t get blown away!). I like Annalie’s theme dressing and the garland idea.
They both look so cute!! I miss you all! love on Valentine’s Day to all of you!!
Happy Valentine’s Day! We spent the morning up to our elbows making Valentine’s Suncatchers. It was great!
Awwww!! I love sister photos. They’ll get so much harder when Elliora starts moving!!
I love the last photo beside the temperature. :) I can’t wait until it’s that warm here!!
These are such cute photos!! I love the colorful garland that Annalie made.
Psst… come back here… we don’t really do winter ; )
The girls look adorable, as always. I love the heart garland! I need to get on the ball with letting the kids craft. I’ve avoided it too much lately.
Wow, that’s pretty impressive for low key.
Those are some great shots of Annalie with Elliora. Annalie seems really at ease handling the baby. And Elliora seems at ease being taken care of by her big sister! You don’t get that (I’m pretty sure, anyway) if the first one’s a toddler when the second is born.
Love the wide-eyed baby looks on Elliora.
Finally, I like your thermometer a lot. I think when we have a setup that will accommodate such a thing, I shall seek one out.
The smiles Annalie gets from Elliora get me every time.
We have a heart garland up from last year. I didn’t put it up on valentine’s though so I don’t feel too weird about it. But I do have cut snowflakes and christmas photo cards up. They make me happy so I don’t mind.
bethany actually says…We actually had Christmas cards up in our hallway in San Diego for an entire year. I liked looking at all the photos!
LOVE Supervisor Elliora’s expressions and the garland and the pic we got in the mail. See you Saturday!
Oh your girls are so beautiful. I love how Annalie dotes on Elliora, you can see the love in her eyes. My Mom always dressed my Sister and I the same, perhaps Annalie would like an outfit or two that would match her sister. May be hard to find the two sizes, but I am sure somewhere it is possible
I love E’s expressions. It’s like everything is surprising to her. Which it probably is…
The heart colors are perfect. I’d probably leave them up for a while just because they are so cheery.
