Let it snow

January 21st, 2008

"It's bright out here, Mama!"

It snowed here last week! Tuesday we met friends at Chick-Fil-A for lunch and ran some errands, and by the time we headed home the temperature had dropped 15 degrees and snow was falling.

Snowy mailbox

It doesn’t snow much where we live, and when we get snow it usually melts within a day. So as soon as we got home, Annalie and I suited up to go out and play in the snow. Santa brought Annalie fancy new snow boots and snow bibs, and she was anxious to use them, and to try out the new hat I made her.

Just one lick

After Annalie made some snow angels and threw some snowballs, we headed indoors for snack and stories. By the time Annalie woke up from her nap a few hours later, the snow was almost entirely gone. Now we’re back to cold dreary weather without any fun white stuff to play in, and Annalie asking me at least every other day, “How many more days till summer NOW, Mama?”

  1. It’s been at least a decade since I’ve been to a Chick-Fil-A. At least. There aren’t any of those here in Vegas.

I don’t really miss the snow though, I’ve really adapted to warmer weather. But if I looked as cute in my snow apparel as Annalie does I would be tempted to move to a snow zone again! Nice work on the hat, you uber-talented woman!

Come visit! We got 2 or 3 inches today alone! Of course the roads are awful, but the snow was pretty as it was coming down.

    I HATE SNOW.

    Sorry.

Snow is pretty, as are your photos.

I do HATE winter, though :)

Oooo, BA, these photos are fantastic!! I am with Angella….I am soooooo sick of winter! Mind you being cold without it really woulnt be any more fun.

The hat for Annalie is darling…..and ‘bibs’, how cute I haven’t heard them called that in ages!

What a great surprise! The snow must have seemed like a dream when Annalie woke up from her nap and it had all melted.

Looks like she had a wonderful time!

The colors of her outfit look so vibrant against the gray and white winter landscape.

I must say I am a bit jealous–it snowed in Georgia by brother-in-law and his family. We’ve got nothin’! Oh, except for ice and bitterly cold temps. In fact we are out of school today–for ICE. Snow sounds GREAT–we haven’t even gotten a dusting for the kids to play in this year! :-(

Looks like you got a lot more snow than we did, though we still have some frozen residue hanging onto the deck and spots in the backyard from Saturday. Glad you guys got to have some fun! She looks like such a riot of a little girl!

I love that kind of snow, you know the kind that is fun but gone by dinner ;). We did lose most of our snow here in the January thaw, but it is snowing today making the roads very messy and the kids had so much fun at school today.

And yes, since the thaw, J keeps asking if it is summer yet. We even had summer strawberry juice (Booster Juice) in preparation. I only wish it was summer :).

I’m with Annalie. Everyone here is sick of me whining about Indiana weather and the constant threatening to move to somewhere warmer. I’m thinking they would all wish I would just MOVE already.

    …Unfortunately, I don’t have anywhere to go.

I think I’m allergic to snow…..Tampa is far enough North for me.

What?!?!?! This IS north to me!

  11. Chick-Fil-A has the BEST chocolate milkshakes. Not the point of the post, I know, but it’s where my mind went ;)

Sounds like you’ve got our kinda winter. Snow/slush = rain….looks like Annalie made the best of it! Cute photos.
