Omaha-ha-ha-ha!

August 21st, 2012

Cousins, sittin' on a rug.

As you may remember, we’re in Omaha for a long visit with family while Troy is back in Virginia, supervising packers and movers and wrapping up his turnover at work. We’ve been having a lot of fun, as you probably already know if you’ve seen the photos I’ve been posting everywhere (Instagram Flickr Facebook Twitter).

Introducing Elliora to pop rocks. (She loved them, of course.)

We’ve introduced Elliora to Pop Rocks. She loved them, of course.

Ice cream goatee. Guess who likes coffee.

Unsurprisingly, Elliora liked the mojito ice cream I got at Ted & Wally’s the other day. (That same day, they were also offering Negro Modelo-flavored ice cream. I sampled it; it was tasty.) A little more surprising was that she liked my iced latte. I let my mom have a sip of the same drink, and she said it was far too strong for her. Since then, Elliora has had a few sips of every cup of coffee I’ve had, smacking her lips and saying, “Mmmm, nice!” She also went crazy when we had roasted brussels sprouts for dinner the other night, shouting “SPROUTS!” when she saw them on her plate. I suspect her sophisticated palate might not survive her toddlerhood so I’m consciously enjoying it while it lasts.

These three! #latergram Winter Quarters, Florence Park. (That gazebo was built by a shop class at my high school 20 years ago.)

Annalie drew the steps of a dance she was teaching Aurora. She calls it Annalie's Pas de Deux For Two.

Rainbow of nail polish. Which one is me, and which one is Annalie?

Annalie and I had a pedicure date.

Yep...they're still goofballs. @katrinatripled @axiummv @troygronberg

We had brunch with friends.

Spiiinnnnn!

Aurora and Elliora spiiiinnnnning in their new matching dresses.

Aurora (age 2y9m) wrote a purple A and a pink A all by herself! Slide!

My mom bought this playset at the church yard sale for $6. Elliora walked outside, saw Aurora and Annalie on the towels with plates of food, and said delightfully, "Pick-ick!" Then she plopped down and helped herself to pretzels and cheese.

Proper miss. Inside Drastic Plastic.

Drastic Plastic Waiting on the Spaghetti Works patio.

Cousins eating ice cream. Pavers.

We had dinner and ice cream at the Old Market, with a stop at Drastic Plastic to get a t-shirt for Jen, who thought it was cool that the store in Eleanor & Park was a real place.

Playing jacks with Grampaw. Elliora coloring with Great-Aunt Janet.

Nebraska ETV Network mug at my aunt & uncle's house. My Uncle Larry taught me and most of my cousins how to play pool at an early age, and we were always welcome to use his pool table. The tradition continues with the next generation.

We’ve had lovely visits with family.

@troygronberg, Annalie likes the sweet potato chips now! We might have to get a second order from now on. Elliora staying true to her Nebraska roots.

Annalie likes the sweet potato chips at Cheeseburger in Paradise now! Troy and I have been trying to get her to eat them for years. Oh, and Elliora likes Runza sandwiches. No surprise there.

Annalie, Alex, Zach and Josh Zach told me, "We call this the Big Wet Ball!" @katrinatripled @axiummv @troygronberg

More fun with these goofballs (Zach told me about the water sculpture in the second photo, “We call this the Big Wet Ball!”)…and a bunch of other stuff that I haven’t Flickred photos of yet. Only a week left in Omaha, and then we’ll be off to San Diego!

I’m glad you’re having a blast in Omaha! Elliora’s appetite never ceases to amaze me. That kid eats things that even I won’t touch! Haha.

It’s fun seeing you hanging out with familiar faces and so soon it’ll be off to the gang in SoCal! I wonder what new foods Elliora will find down there…

  3. Jen says:

Just a week left??? That is crazy!! Time seems to be going by so fast, but so much seems to be happening too.

I hope Elliora continues to enjoy a variety of foods. AC used to eat all sorts of things, but that has really tapered off in the past few years. She does still surprise me occasionally though!

SO cool that Drastic Plastic is a real place!!!

We’re hanging out with triplet boys on Friday. It will not be boring.

Glad you’re having such a great time there!

Oh my gosh – how do we not have Runza’s in Wisconsin??!! They remind me of Bierocks, a bread dough like bun that has sauteed ground beef, cabbage and sometimes cheese in them. Yum!
