I kept meaning to comment on this and just now finally remembered to - thank you so much for posting the link to the self test... I scored 22 of those things - and I've always been like that and people just don't understand! especially the startling and pain and loud noises and arts/music - I never really knew all that added up to something, very interesting!

Hey...how about 'special shoes'? Get some nifty new tennis shoes that have extra ankle support...or something that is a boot that protects the whole foot..wherever it was hurt. Sometimes believing you can walk without pain is 1/2 the battle. If she's favouring it out of a memory of pain...but then walks on it just fine when she's not thinking about it, then Aileen may be on the right track thinking it's now psychosomatic pain. I HATE needles due to military hospitals in the early '70's...and just watching one in a movie or on TV makes me hurt right where that person is getting stuck. Weird I know, but there you are. It's worth a try.

We all have those kind of days...she'll remember your cuddles more than you think! She won't be able to resist dancing for too much longer, either. Hang in there!

You and I could be sharing the same life sometimes. Not that J has hurt his foot, but the whole everyone thought I was shy as a kid. And now with J even pushing him a touch too far leads to what can feel like hours of crying. I get weary from the whinning and tears and frustrated, mostly at myself, for not maintaining the patience I was famous for for most of my life. But, this too shall pass.

I hope Annalie forgets all about her foot and gets back to ballet, in time this too shall pass.

God love you, Bethany... My heart sank reading that because I could sense your exhaustion and struggles in your writing. What a hard situation. I'm going to keep you all in my prayers. I know it's difficult, but just know I'm thinking of you all and you vent all you want. This is your life - your blog - and we all have issues/problems/struggles just like yours. Don't worry about being judged, belittled or anything else. Everyone has felt the exact same way you do right now.

Also, I can *so* relate to being a sensitive person. I took the test and scored a 26. I've always, always considered myself (and others tell me too) that I'm overly sensitive. I've lived a lifetime of that label! :-) I'm right there with you both.. Sending prayers and love your way.

My son has a similar reaction around crowds. He doesn't like being around too many people he doesn't know, doesn't like all the clapping and singing and noises, will completely shut down and cry and cry until we get him out of there and to a quiet environment. He must be sensitive too.

I hope Annalie walks/runs/dances ballet soon and sees that her foot is OK. It's mostly psychosomatic now. Here's to you for hanging in there during this trying time. I give you permission to have 10 peanut butter cookies and more coffee than there is water in Lake Erie! I wouldn't stray too far from the toilet though if you're going to take that advice. :)

I read those questions on the senstive child test and just had to laugh. I couldn't check a single item off! Maybe as he gets older he'll become more sensitive. It would be tough to deal with a child who is so sensitive though. My nephew is very sensitive and you can't raise your voice or show any anger at all. I get used to being crazy with my son, who doesn't even notice, and suddenly I'm in the room with my nephew and he's crying his eyes out and I'm feeling like the biggest heel in the world.

Anyway, blogging is a great place for venting. It's cheaper than therapy, right?
