Saying good-bye

Good-bye mosaic for Deborah

I made this mosaic for my good friend Deborah, to put in a journal/scrapbook we created for her. Her going-away party was tonight, and she and her family leave Tuesday to move across the country. This is one of the hard parts of being a military family: having to say good-bye to so many people you love.

I agree… when you move to an area you don’t love… then being a military wife is great… because you know you’ll only be there temporarily. But when you meet wonderful people and make new friends, or in my case move near your parents and old friends, moving again will be bittersweet. :( I just hope we’re in one place when the oldest is in high school so that she can at least graduate with her friends. It’s not easy…being a Navy brat…

Aw! I’ve moved quite a bit since my 6-year-old was born, but mostly by choice. That must be so hard to move all the time!

  3. That would be rough. The saddest was when my 8-year-old niece told me as they were leaving San Diego to move to Oklahoma, “Well, I guess I have to go find all new friends again.”

I’ve always been blessed having been in the guard – knowing during basic training that I was going home really helped me get through training. Sometimes I forget that AD military families have to deal with separation so much. Blessings and prayers with you all.

Awww, Im sorry you are having to say goodbye to a close friend. Just think of it this way, now you have another reason to go across country on vacation!! This post make me teary thinking about it, when I moved down here to VA in 1999 I left all my family and friends behind…it was hard, I feel for her and for you. ((hugs))
