Day 75 for Troy

For the past three days our photos for Troy have been taken with one or both of us lying down. Sensing a theme, here?

Annalie and my mom both started getting sick while we were still in Indiana. (Annalie was sick with a fever that one day, got better, and then started getting sick with whatever this is. So she has been sick twice, poor kid.) I got sick basically the minute we got back to Omaha. We were sick enough that I could hardly begin to contemplate getting on an airplane, so I changed our flight from Wednesday to Monday. God bless Southwest’s no-fee policy, and Erin for pointing it out to me.

Day 76 for Troy

For those who are wondering, I have no idea if what we have is H1N1. We didn’t go to the doctor, because (1) we have not been so seriously ill that I was willing to expose us to more germs in a doctor’s waiting room, and (2) we’re in Omaha, and going to the doctor here would mean going to the emergency room at Offutt Air Force Base, which I’ve done before and will only be repeating in true emergencies, thankyouverymuch. My mom, who presumably was sick with the same thing, did go to the doctor because she was worried about developing bronchitis, and they said they didn’t think what she had was H1N1. But they didn’t do a blood test, so who knows.

Day 77 for Troy

My head feels like it’s stuffed with tissue paper and I get dizzy just walking from the living room to the kitchen, but my throat no longer feels like it’s on fire and I’m able to sit up for more than ten minutes at a time. Annalie, who started getting sick before I did, is feeling much more like her old self today, thank goodness. I’m very glad that we stayed in Omaha because if we were at home and it was only feeling-better, bouncing-off-the-walls Annalie and sick, dizzy me, I’d be in trouble. Thank goodness my mom is feeling better, so I don’t feel too guilty for letting her take care of Annalie for me.

Here’s hoping that by Monday, when we fly home, I’m feeling much better too.

p.s. Look, no one’s asleep in today’s photo! We’re still sick, but on the mend.

I hope the sickies didn’t affect your trip too much. And it’s great that you have your Mom with you so you can get better too. Hope the weekend brings you back to your usual self for the flight home on Monday.

  2. Melissa says:

Oh no! Hope you’re back to your normal healthy self soon!

Oh dear! Everyone here is sick too (work has been bedlam, with only half our guys working) and my family is starting to come down with stuff. I’m staying far away from them till they recover (which may or may not work out so well, seeing as how my sister’s birthday is on Mon, but we’ll see). Hope you feel back to your old self soon, and that it doesn’t have any lasting effects. Flying is absolutely no fun when you’re ill.

  4. Oh my, I hope you both are feeling back to normal soon. :)

Feel better soon. I think my son had “it” last weekend. He had a high fever for three days, aches, cough, etc. Now my daughter is getting the same thing this weekend. Hope you all feel better soon and I don’t get it here!

Ugh, H1N1 or not – sick sucks!
I’m glad to hear you’re all on the mend!
