Swaparooni: Ornaments

December 23rd, 2007

Remember this?

Sneak peek

OneScrappyGal received her ornament, so here’s the rest of it:

Snowman

As you can see, it’s a snowman! I made him out of cinnamon dough and crocheted him a little hat and scarf and then glued them and the buttons on. I am pretty pleased with how he turned out. Though Aileen has named the ornament Little Bethany, so I supposed I should be referring to it as a she!

I have to say, Swaparooni participants are a generous sort. The rules only required that one ornament be sent, but from what I’ve seen in the photo pool, almost everyone has been sending more than one. I got not one, not two, but THREE ornaments! Aileen’s two-and-a-half-year-old son picked out a brightly-colored oversized jingle bell ornament, which makes me smile each time I look at it.

Aileen’s four-year-old daughter, who loves her ballet classes, picked out some fancy Victorian slippers for Annalie. Annalie was so excited to have her own present to open, and she was thrilled with her ornament. She placed it carefully on the tree at her eye level, and then kept wandering back over to the tree and asking, “These are mine? These are all my very own?”

And a beautiful glass angel is on the Christmas tree now, but I think she just might live on my kitchen windowsill year-round, because she’s too pretty to pack away in a box. Don’t you agree?

Thank you so much for a superlative swap, Aileen! Of course, I am not surprised at your good taste. You are a fellow Navy wife, after all!

I’m just so, so happy you liked everything Bethany. I had a lot of fun with the children letting them help me pick out the goodies. Especially the boy. It was so nice to see him get exctied about the jingle bell ball.

Thank you again for Little Bethany. I love her! She (all her long beautiful hair is tucked under her hat) still smells good enough to eat and I love staring at her on my tree. I am naturally tanned thanks to my spanish genes and I like to think Little Bethany is the same skin color as me. :-) I can’t wait for my parents to come Christmas morning so I can show her off.

Good comment on the Navy Wife thing. We are a special, awesome breed. Modest too!! :)

Aileen is so wonderful, isn’t she?

I’m hoping I get my ornament - I shipped mine off and I know it was received, but I’ve not received mine. :(
