I shared this post with Chris and our kids - so neat to see a bit of life on a ship! We also went to see Troy's Flickr and the USS Nimitz homepage to learn more about Troy's ship, which Chris already knew was the first nuclear powered ship in our Navy. Thanks for giving us something fun to look up together tonight!

Although I could never to the military thing, it sure sounds cool when Troy shares his Navy life.

I never realized your husband was on an aircraft carrier. My husband and I just toured the midway in San Diego and have become obsessed with watching "carrier" about life on an aircraft carrier. You are an incredibly courageous woman to be without your husband for such long stretches. Blessings to you and little A.

mamalang, You said it! We've never had to do a deployment without email. Even so, I think about how the email system worked 12 years ago and I have to laugh at how primitive it was compared to now. Life comes at you fast. :-)

Cool post. I love the idea of them cruising alongside the other ship, and the screensaver would be really cool :)

I can't imagine dealing with these deployments even 10 or 15 years ago, without all of the contact we have now!
